Rumor: Boston Red Sox Trading for First Baseman
The Boston Red Sox will once again be going for it this season and the team is expected to make multiple trades before the deadline. According to reports, the Sox are expected to acquire a first basemen sometime over the next few weeks.
Unfortunately for the Bo Sox, their current first baseman Bobby Dalbec is not performing up to expectations and is only slashing .201/.254/.402, and the team is running out of patience. They have Marwin Gonzalez as their back up option at the moment but that's not the ideal set up management is looking for in the postseason.
Look for the Red Sox to be in contact with teams in the National League and one team in particular, the Miami Marlins, who have Jesus Aguilar who is having a fine season and is showing off a powerful stroke. There's also Jonathan Schoop from the Detroit Tigers on their radar and Trey Mancini from the Baltimore Orioles.
Ideally someone like San Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer is who the Red Sox would insert into their lineup, but he's not going anywhere. Boston is right-handed hitting heavy but at this point, they'll just take what they can get.
