The Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners have completed a deal that sends first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers to the Mariners in exchange for the elite player to be named later or cash considerations.

Bauers was recently designated for assignment from the Indians and it was obvious there was going to be some interest on the trade market for his services and Seattle jumped in. Bauers is no stranger to trades as Cleveland acquired him back in 2019 from the Tampa Bay Rays.
During his tenure in Cleveland, Bauers appeared in 160 games, recording 14 HR and slashed .218/.305/.352. He also included three stolen bases for good measure.
The Mariners have a need at first base with some injuries, including Evan White who has a strained hip flexor. Ty France had been taken reps at the one bag in White's place, but now can move over to a new position in the infield to make room for Bauers.
