Diamondbacks Blow 7-run Lead, 1 Short of Futility Record

 

The Arizona Diamondbacks went into Tuesday night's game hoping to avoid their 21st straight loss on the road. They took an early 7-0 lead, and then an 8-5 lead into the bottom of the 8th. And then...

Mike Yastrzemski with the grand slam for the San Francisco Giants, and the DBacks go on to lose their 21st straight road game. They are now one loss short of tying a record that goes back nearly 60 years, when the 1963 New York Mets lost 22 straight away from the friendly confines of the old Polo Grounds.

Though it might be a tough task after that soul-crushing defeat, the DBacks will attempt to avoid tying the record on Wednesday night in San Francisco.
